Former Manchester United ace slams midfield trio including Paul Pogba

Former Manchester United player Dion Dublin has slated the performances of midfield trio Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Marouane Fellaini during Tuesday’s goalless stalemate against Valencia in the Champions League. The Red Devils had come into the game after a round of three winless games across all competitions but they showed a genuine lack of creativity once more as they continued their search for a victory.

Speaking after the game, Dublin stated that United produced another toothless performances in front of their home fans and he was particularly not impressed with the efforts put on from the club’s midfield players, he said: “I’ve never seen so many Man Utd players, who I’d normally hang my hat on, give the ball away so much.

“Paul [Pogba] has been a little lacklustre, Nemanja [Matic] the same, Marouane [Fellaini] has been a bit messy and scruffy. It just doesn’t feel like I’m watching Man Utd. I wasn’t expecting a performance like that. It was 70 minutes of the Man Utd we have seen all season so far. I looked at the players at the final whistle and they look out of sorts.”

Mourinho’s position at Old Trafford has been put into serious doubt amidst the club’s worst start to the season in nearly 30 years and the current streak does not do him any favours, given the board are supposedly mulling over a potential challenge. Nonetheless, there has not been any noticeable activity behind the scenes to date and the recent speculation linking Zinedine Zidane with the club has also been put to bed, according to reports.

United are scheduled to face struggling Newcastle United at Old Trafford in their last match before the international break and anything less than a comfortable victory over the Magpies would certainly have everyone thinking whether Mourinho would remain at the helm to face former club Chelsea on October 20.
