REAL SET RECORDS

Carlo Ancelotti and his squad continue their fine form after defeating Malaga in a narrow 2-1 victory which sealed the 16th consecutive triumph for Real Madrid and this is a milestone for the Spanish club as it has established a new club record for most successive wins which was set in the 1960-61 season.

C.Ronaldo was unable to score in this match but the Portuguese added his grain of salt as he provided the assists for both of the goals that Real Madrid scored as he ran past the defender of Malaga, Roberto Rosales before crossing it over to Karim Benzema who made no mistake in scoring the opening goal of the match at the 18th minute.

Gareth Bale scored the 2nd goal for Real Madrid at the 83rd minute as the Welshman connected with a pass from C.Ronaldo and the former Tottenham Hotspur player turned the scoreboard 2-0.

Malaga tried to get back into the game and a late goal from Santa Cruz transformed the last few minutes of the match into a dramatic one but after everything was said and done Real Madrid managed to hold on to their lead and claim their 16th successive victory in all competitions which is a new record for the club and this is just another piece of evidence that shows how well Ancelotti and his players are performing.

“I’m happy. This seems like a dream. We are very happy about the streak. I hope it continues. I will get some credit for this, but I’m lucky to train a fantastic team with fantastic players at a fantastic club. But this is only part of a long season. The key is to keep working hard because in football the past is the past.” Carlo Ancelotti after the match was over.

The Spanish League still has more than 20 matches left to be played but Real Madrid has kick-started the season in superb form and Ancelotti is just hoping that his team can continue their streak of victories and turn into the new champions of Spain.

The Champions League and the Spanish League are the priorities for Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid as those are the main pieces of silverware that are on their radar to win in this season and so far it has been an excellent start as Real Madrid has already secured their spot into the last 16 teams remaining in the Champions League after progressing past the group stages of the European competition.
